Gimbal Fork & Bearing

Gimbal Fork & Bearing

Interchangeability. Not a term used too often in the world of sled or sled designs. But that is exactly what you are looking at here. When we set out to design a gimbal I demanded a lot of things. One important demand was to allow the operator to be able to purchase one gimbal for his sled, and to take and use this gimbal on different styles of sleds no matter what the post diameter is. So that is what we designed.

Most all of the Ultimates gimbal components are completely interchangeable with 1.500", 1.580", 2.00" post sizes. The only component you need to purchase when changing post diameters is the gimbal sleeve. This is the portion of the gimbal that you are locking down, concentrically clamping around the post, and fits into the bearing you see pictured here.

Gimbal designs are complex and expensive. I never liked the idea of having to purchase a new gimbal because I wanted to increase sled rigidity. The idea of disposing of a perfectly good gimbal at a fraction of the purchase price benefited someone, but it wasn't the operator.

This fork design allows for more finger room to greatly reduce the chances of hitting your fingers when sliding your sled back and fourth across your body whether in high or low mode.

The custom made bearing you see could just very well be the smoothest, lowest friction bearing ever installed onto a sled.

Extremely close tolerances, a must for all gimbal designs. The larger the gimbal diameter, the closer the tolerance must be on each component.
